About Our Practice

Frank, Frank & Scherr, LLC focuses its practice on aging and elderly persons planning for the future, assisting families planning for the long term care of other family members who are mentally or physically disabled, and estate planning. The provision of legal services to elderly individuals and estate planning often involves spouses, children, siblings, and other relatives assisting the individual. While the family members may participate in gathering information and facilitating communication, the client makes the decisions, to the extent he or she is capable of doing so.

The sudden onset of disability as a result of a stroke or disabling accident or the harsh reality of a mind robbing illness such as Alzheimers disease often highlights the consequences of a failure to plan. Some of the first issues to arise concern medical decision making and finances: who will make the health care decisions, what health care decisions can they make, who has the authority to make financial decisions, if no one does, how does someone get access to the assets to pay the bills. The following three areas must be addressed for effective long term care planning: asset management, health care decision making and paying for care.
